Our Mission
Pikeville Pride works to carve out a space in Pike County, Kentucky, and the surrounding Southern Appalachian area, where individuals of any gender and sexuality can feel safe and accepted in celebration of themselves, each other, and their community.
Who We Are
Our Story
In April 2017, several nationalist/white supremacist groups attempted to draw support in our community and held a rally in downtown Pikeville. As a response, volunteers began organizing to send a clear message that racism, sexism, and homophobia, transphobia, and bigotry would not be tolerated in eastern Kentucky. Pikeville Pride has worked steadily since our first Pride event in October 2018 to highlight LGBTQ+ visibility and to foster an inclusive enviroment free from discriminatory polices and practices. More than 400 people attended our first Pride event in 2018, and each year our annual Pikeville Pride celebration continues to grow. In addition to our Pride celebration, our organization hosted the first all-ages Pride Prom in July 2019. With your continued support, we look forward to the growth of our organization and ability to make Pikeville a welcoming and inclusive community for all. #YallMeansAll
